Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Her first EP, Pho was released on the 21st of October, 2016 was released via Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she began to get notoriety. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music onto the internet back in 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. In 2014 she continued to make music available on the web, including her own issued single Bound. On July 21 2015 Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat It Out. The following year, her music was circulating around the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some potential references to Rihanna. The official signing ceremony was held to Dreamville Records on 8 December. In the record Revenge of the Dreamers II her appearance was made on the track Backseat alongside Cozz. Her Pho EP was released on her debut album on October 21st on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song, and performed on her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. Also, she was featured on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus alongside Bas the label's co-founders. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video which debuted on the 5th of September. On the 9th of November she released two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. The 13th of November, she dropped two singles titled The No One and Pedigree. They then collaborated in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on February 26, 2019 for her debut album the same title. On February 20, 2019 the music video was released for the song. It already has 3 million hits on YouTube in its first week. She was the supporting act for 6LACK during the From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
